CHRISTIAN DEBT CONSOLIDATION BEWARE !
Many people seem to find the existence of Christian debt consolidation companies rather questionable, to say the least. Especially if interest is charged on loans consolidated as such. They think that because Christianity teaches charity as a pillar of faith, charging interest appears to be capitalizing on the lendee’s difficulty, the need for bridge financing. This, they say, contradicts Christian teaching on charity, which means helping ---not taking advantage of--- someone who needs. The Bible saying, 'Just as the rich rule over the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender' (Pro. 22:7) is illustrative of this.
Others feel that it is not inconsistent with Christianity to pay interest on loans, provided that the loans have been obtained in order to fill a distinct and basic need, not luxury, such as to purchase a car or a home. They frown on borrowing to finance unnecessary items desired only to boost one’s pride or ego or social standing. This is definitely unChristian and should not be condoned, they aver.
Some quarters also argue that taking out a personal loan does no harm, as long as the intended value of the loan purpose exceeds the value of the loan itself. A good example of this is a student loan, which finances education, a value that is infinitely greater than the cost of the loan.
Still other people think loans are okay if they do not burden the borrowers. In other words, the borrowers should feel they care very little if they can’t have the loan; it is something they can do without.
Christian debt companies on their part defend their position by saying that Christians, like any other person, can also fall into need. It is therefore charity to fill this need, and charge interest in order to continue to do so with others needing the same assistance. A nominal fee charged to cover overhead and other expenses will help tremendously to perpetuate the means of assistance, in this case funding, so that others may also be served. Without the interest, the capital will eventually peter out, eaten away by insignificant but constant small expenses that should have been covered by the interest.
More so if the company incurs losses due to loans not paid. So they also encourage payment by quoting the Bible: 'The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously' (Psalm 37:21). It is likewise their desire to help their borrowers to ‘live abundantly and be debt-free.’ And that by consolidating loans, they make it easier for the borrowers to pay off their loans, thereby lessening the burden. And that is definitely Christian in act and deed.
Despite these rationalizations, some people still feel uncomfortable dealing with Christian debt consolidation companies. Non-Christian ones are therefore a viable option. However, it must be remembered that Christian and non-Christian companies do not make distinctions on the religious affiliations of their clientele, and therefore one is just as functional as the other. Thus, opting for either boils down to just personal preference.

am not alone, just charge in an extra item to my credit card should
be fine.”Or probably the most common problem is that you
don't earn enough even though you have been living on a budget
